Youll be part of a wider team that promotes, prevents and offers treatment. Youll care for people with chronic illness and long-term conditions, aiming to keep them well and in their own homes. A typical day in the practice normally starts at around 8am when youll check paperwork before seeing patients. Youll spend time with a mix of patients with a variety of health needs until late morning, either face-to-face or through a phone consultation. After morning appointments, you'll generally catch up on paperwork, make any phone calls and you may visit patients in their homes or care homes. Once visits are complete, youll start your afternoon surgery, from 2pm until 6.00pm. You will also provide evening appointments part of our extended access rota. On a rotational basis you will also act as our triage GP using SystmConnect working with our triage admin and and wider practice team. Hospital ward rounds at our our local nurse led rehabilitation hospital will also be required on a rotational basis. You will also be involved in educational supervision of medical students, foundation year doctors and GP trainees as well as attending practice meetings, morning coffee break and whole practice training events.
