The post holder will be responsible for providing wound care advice and education, physical health nursing assessments, care, and treatment for service users with serious mental illness across inpatient wards in a mental health hospital setting. You will be responsible for delivery of high-quality service and continuity of care by undertaking regular health checks of service users with serious mental illness receiving treatment from the services. The role also involves supporting and promoting physical wellbeing and educating service users, carers, and colleagues. A key aspect of the role will be monitoring the effectiveness of tissue viability interventions, as well as developing patient care-pathways/Trust-wide clinical guidelines/policies. Specific focus will be on pressure ulcer prevention and management; care planning and staff support may be part of this role. The post holder will rollout education for all disciplines of staff working with patients with tissue viability complications. A collaborative approach is essential working within the multi-disciplinary team to provide comprehensive patient focused care. The post holder should demonstrate an awareness of local and national nursing agendas.
