It is an exciting time to be joining the newly formed Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust which has resulted from the merger of The Luton and Dunstable University Hospital and Bedford Hospital NHS Trusts. The merger took place on 1 April 2020 and under the umbrella of the single NHS Trust both hospitals will retain their identity and individual hospital names.
All qualifying members of staff will automatically become Foundation Trust Staff Members which gives staff the opportunity to play an active role in developing quality services for both patients and staff.
Applications are invited for a Junior Clinical Fellow level post based at Bedford Hospital NHS Trust, commencing October 2024 until October 2025.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to expand their knowledge, skills and work with Consultant Surgeons with an interest in advanced laparoscopic procedures, Upper GI Surgery, Vascular and Colo-Rectal Surgery.
The post is not recognised for training and therefore does not have educational and training approval from the Postgraduate Dean or Royal College. In all other respects the postholders have identical terms and conditions of service to the departments other House Officer’s. Clinical experience and research opportunities will be available for individuals wishing to progress in their career.
All candidates are required to have excellent communication skills.
The duties are allocated to you by your supervising consultant and include the following, all of which you are responsible for. This is not, however, to be regarded as excusive or exhaustive.

Detailed clerking and initiation of all necessary investigations for the patient, keeping full notes and ensuring the medical records information is constantly updated.
Attendance at ward rounds.
Discharge Notes
Attendance at education and training programme meetings.
Undertake, exceptionally, to perform additional duties in occasional emergency and unforeseen circumstances.
