Working for our organisation
Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust comprises Aintree University Hospital, Broadgreen Hospital & Royal Liverpool University Hospital.
We are part of NHS University Hospitals of Liverpool Group, formed on 1 Nov 2024 from the coming together of LUHFT and Liverpool Women’s NHS Foundation Trust. The Group was born from a shared aim to improve the care we provide our patients.
UHLG is one of the largest employers in the region, with over 16,800 colleagues dedicated to caring for our communities - from birth and beyond.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Since February 2024 UHLG has been delivering a fortnightly breast pain clinic for patients under the age of 70, who don’t have implants and are referred to secondary care with breast pain as their only symptom. UHLG has received funding from The Cheshire and Merseyside Cancer alliance to deliver an exciting pilot project to deliver more Breast Pain Clinics to Women in Merseyside. It aims to reduce the number of these patients attending the Urgent Suspected Cancer (USC) Breast clinic to undergo unnecessary radiological imaging, by improving the regularity and convenience of Breast Pain Clinics at UHLG. This in turn would release capacity for more patients with red flag symptoms to be seen in a timely manner. For patients it would, in most cases, be more convenient allowing access to specialist advice and breast imaging if indicated.
Key to the success of the pilot project will be a motivated and proactive Breast Pain Clinic Coordinator. With the support of Clinical colleagues and the wider Breast Team at UHLG, the Clinic Coordinator will lead on the delivery and evaluation of the new Breast Pain clinics across UHLG.
