The Role:
Our client, one of the UK’s leading M&E Contractors, is seeking an experienced M&E Quantity Surveyor to join their team to help work on a prestigious and sizeable custodial project in Northumberland. As an M&E Quantity Surveyor, you will play a vital role in the successful delivery of the project, ensuring the financial and contractual aspects are managed efficiently.
If you live further away, a lodging away package is available for this role, with 4 days on site, 1 day WFH.
Quantity surveyors from backgrounds other than M&E may also be considered.
Responsibilities:
* Quantity Surveying: Take responsibility for all M&E quantity surveying activities on the project, including preparing and managing budgets, cost plans, estimates, and forecasts.
* Cost Control: Monitor project costs, variations, and valuations, ensuring accurate and timely reporting to the project management team.
* Contract Management: Administer and manage the contractual obligations of the project, including subcontractor agreements, variations, and claims.
* Procurement: Assist in the procurement process by preparing tender documents, evaluating bids, and selecting appropriate subcontractors and suppliers.
* Value Engineering: Collaborate with the design and construction teams to identify value engineering opportunities, optimize costs, and improve project efficiency.
* Risk Management: Identify potential risks and opportunities that may impact project costs, providing proactive advice and mitigating measures to minimize financial exposure.
* Change Management: Assess and manage change requests, including variations, extensions of time, and claims, ensuring compliance with contractual requirements.
* Stakeholder Management: Establish and maintain effective relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and other project stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and resolution of any commercial issues.
* Final Account: Prepare and negotiate final accounts, ensuring all variations, claims, and additional works are accurately documented and accounted for.
Requirements:
* Education: Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field desirable.
Experience:
* Some years of experience as an M&E Quantity Surveyor, within the construction industry. Previous experience on large-scale projects is advantageous.
* Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of M&E systems, cost control principles, contract management, and procurement processes.
* I.T. Proficiency in using industry-standard software.
* Commercial Acumen: Excellent understanding of commercial and financial aspects of construction projects, including budgeting, cost planning, and cash flow management.
* Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner. Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills.
* Attention to Detail: Strong analytical skills with a keen eye for detail, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting and cost calculations.
* Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, fostering positive working relationships and contributing to the overall success of the project.
