My client is an industry leading logistics business and is currently experiencing a period of sustained growth. Due to an internal promotion, they are looking for an experienced Transport Supervisor to join their high performing team.
About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Transport Operations Supervisor to oversee and enhance our transport operations. You will play a critical role in ensuring efficient deliveries, optimising processes, and maintaining high service levels. This is an exciting opportunity for a professional with strong operational skills to make a significant impact in a dynamic logistics environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Operational Oversight:
o Plan, manage, and coordinate transport operations to ensure timely and efficient deliveries.
o Optimise routes to reduce costs and improve service quality.
o Ensure full compliance with DVSA regulations, tachograph requirements, and driver working hours.
2. Client and Customer Management:
o Act as the primary point of contact for clients regarding delivery schedules and performance.
o Address and resolve transport-related issues promptly to maintain high customer satisfaction.
o Investigate the root causes of service failures, providing solutions and ensuring they are not repeated.
3. Strategic Contribution:
o Contribute to the development and execution of the company’s strategic goals and objectives.
o Drive initiatives for continuous improvement in transportation practices, focusing on cost reduction and service enhancement.
o Manage and support a team of drivers and logistics personnel, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.
o Build and maintain strong working relationships with team members, customers, and partners.
o Liaise with the Fleet Manager and Compliance Director on vehicle or HR requirements and support needs.
Requirements:
* Proven experience in a similar role within the logistics or transport industry.
* Strong knowledge of transport regulations and compliance in the UK.
* A valid Transport Manager CPC is desirable but not essential.
* Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
* Proficiency in transport management systems.
* Outstanding communication and organisational skills.
* Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
