About the Role As an English Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in shaping students' linguistic abilities and critical thinking skills. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality lessons across KS3 to KS5, fostering a stimulating learning environment and ensuring students develop strong analytical and writing skills. Your expertise will be instrumental in instilling confidence, improving literacy and encouraging a passion for reading and writing. Responsibilities of the English Teacher: Plan and deliver engaging English lessons in line with the national curriculum, ensuring they are both challenging and accessible to students of all abilities. Foster a creative and supportive classroom environment that encourages active participation, discussion and independent thinking. Assess and monitor student progress through formative and summative assessments, providing constructive feedback to enhance learning. Implement differentiated teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of students, ensuring all learners can achieve their full potential. Inspire students to develop a love for literature, poetry and writing, cultivating analytical and interpretative skills. Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level examinations, equipping them with the skills and knowledge to excel in assessments. Collaborate with colleagues and parents to support student development and contribute to the wider English department. Maintain high standards of classroom management, ensuring a positive and inclusive learning environment. Requirements of the English Teacher: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification. A degree in English Language, English Literature, or a related subject. Proven experience teaching English at the secondary level, preferably up to A-level. Strong knowledge of the National Curriculum for English and current assessment frameworks. A passion for English literature, language and creative writing, with the ability to engage and motivate students. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proactive approach to lesson planning and delivery. A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students, adhering to school policies and procedures. Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
