We partner with Arup to support contingent recruitment processes. On behalf of Arup, we are looking for an IT Buyer for a 9-month contract based in Birmingham. It is a hybrid model.
About the Opportunity:
We are looking for an IT Buyer to manage and strengthen relationships with our IT vendors, ensuring optimal performance, cost efficiency, and alignment with Arup's sustainability goals. You will oversee vendor relationships across various areas, including software, infrastructure, devices, and outsourced services. You will support the procurement strategy by providing reporting, managing budgets, and engaging in forward planning activities to meet both global and regional operational needs.
You will make an impact in this role by...
Building and maintaining strong relationships with major enterprise software and hardware providers, ensuring high performance and issue resolution. Regularly engage with vendor account managers and internal stakeholders to understand needs and improve the vendor relationship
Undertaking contract reviews, managing performance, and handling project/contract renewals. Assisting in developing vendor management policies and processes, ensuring compliance with Arup's procurement framework.
Monitoring vendor roadmaps and strategies, keeping up to date with industry trends. Collaborating with technical leads to evaluate the market and identify software enhancements, supporting change when necessary to align with business needs.
Liaising with global and regional stakeholders to assess software needs and supporting long-term vendor management. Facilitating the development of business/user requirements to improve project efficiency and delivery.
To achieve in this role, you will have...
Good working knowledge/appreciation of enterprise vendors at a global level. Ideally this would be in the technology sector (e.g. Microsoft, Cisco, AWS, and Oracle)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills - you'll have regular contact with internal and external stakeholders, so you'll need to demonstrate gravitas and be comfortable communicating with individuals across all levels
Strong documentation and numeracy skills - able to report on and explain complex issues
Strong IT background.
Proven ability to develop and maintain stakeholder relationships, using your skills to influence and negotiate to deliver successful outcomes
High level of attention to detail and an ability to organize and prioritise workload
Ability to work well within a team
