Bothwell Medical Centre is a GP Training Practice situated in Bothwell near Glasgow. It is a very busy practice with around 10,500 patients. The doctors, nurses and admin staff are friendly and hard-working. We are looking for an enthusiastic Medical Administrator to join our friendly practice team. The post available is in the afternoon 1pm-6pm, so will be worked 25 hours per week across 5 days (Monday to Friday).
Good communication skills, exceptional telephone manner and a positive approach to dealing with patients is crucial. Applicants must have excellent interpersonal qualities, be calm, adaptable, reliable, with good time-management skills, and be able to work well under pressure with minimal supervision. Good general education, computer literacy and keyboard skills are essential. First impressions are extremely important, so it is vital the right candidate is friendly and approachable.
This role is varied and includes a broad range of administrative and IT tasks alongside reception duties.
Tasks include, but are not limited to:
* Dealing with patients and healthcare professionals both face-to-face and by telephone
* Responding to general enquiries
* Managing clinic appointments
* Electronic filing, document management and workflow
* Processing prescription requests
* Processing new patient registrations
* Accurately updating patient records as appropriate
Our ideal candidate should have experience of working with the public in a customer-focused role. Experience working in a General Practice setting is desirable but not essential, as full training will be given.
Applicants will have excellent customer care skills and will be able to work with the public in sometimes stressful situations. Knowledge of our electronic clinical systems is not a pre-requisite to applying as full training will be given in a structured induction programme.
Salary will be dependant on experience, but will be in the region of £23780 to £25285 per annum pro rata. The NHS pension scheme is available and the post attracts 25 days annual leave plus 10 public holidays per year.
