The Transport Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Company’s transportation operations, ensuring compliance with regulations, maintaining vehicle road worthiness, and providing excellent customer service. The role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a hands-on approach, as the main function of this role is based around driving.
Key Responsibilities
1. Ensure the safe transportation of stock vehicles between Leeds, Manchester, and London showrooms.
2. Oversee the delivery and collection of customer vehicles to and from showrooms and customer destinations.
3. Manage the collection and delivery of parts using company vans.
4. Perform occasional chauffeur duties for the Chairman and Senior Management Team.
5. Implement and enforce safe driving procedures in accordance with the Highway Code and company policies.
6. Maintain awareness of company insurance stipulations regarding vehicle transportation.
7. Develop and maintain a company transportation schedule to meet operational demands.
8. Coordinate with internal departments to resolve booking conflicts.
9. Plan efficient and alternative routes for timely deliveries, considering road closures, traffic, and other variables.
10. Stay updated on DVSA legislation and ensure compliance with operator regulations.
11. Address any driving infringements, record incidents, and arrange remedial training as necessary.
12. Collaborate with internal teams, including After-Sales, Marketing, and Sales Administration, to coordinate vehicle movements and customer interactions.
13. Maintain effective communication with customers and suppliers regarding schedules, vehicle conditions, and work progress.
14. Complete and manage vehicle appraisal forms and other necessary documentation.
Required Qualifications and Skills
1. Category C HGV license and Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence).
2. Thorough understanding of the EU Working Time Directive and DVSA Operator Regulations.
3. Working knowledge of the UK road network; experience driving in Europe is desirable.
4. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database systems.
5. Ability to safely lift up to 30kg; manual handling training is desirable.
6. Exceptional attention to detail for vehicle appraisals and quality control.
7. Flexible approach to working hours.
8. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
9. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
10. Presentable and professional demeanor.
11. Full, clean UK driving license.
