In response to the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) report “No One’s Listening” Barts Health will pilot an urgent emergency care bypass model. We are seeking to appoint a team of staff to work within the service.
The successful applicants will be providing effective nursing care within a new service and will work alongside the emergency department and the haemoglinopathy service. The unit will provide triage, assessment, and care delivery to Sickle Cell patients who present to the Royal London Hospital Emergency Department. As such the role requires a high level of enthusiasm, drive, organisation and a willingness to learn.

In conjunction with the haemoglobinopathies teams across Barts Health NHS Trust the post holder will be support the ongoing development and delivery of a high quality sickle cell service across the Trust.
Barts Health NHS Trust has been designated as a Haemoglobinopathy Coordinating Centre for sickle cell disease, thalassaemia and other rare inherited anaemias. The Royal London Hospital is the host site within the Trust and this post, based at the Royal London provides an exciting opportunity to join the team.

The postholder will play an important role in the management of people with sickle cell disease presenting to the Royal London Hospital who require acute day case care.
They will be expected to provide excellent customer care for patients which may include communication with distressed and anxious patients and relatives, treating them with tact and empathy, ensuring the professional image of the Trust is maintained at all times.
You should be flexible, enthusiastic and passionate and an excellent communicator. This role is also ideal for anyone who wishes to make a difference to patients' experience.
