Due to retirement we are recruiting additional staff to live and work on the beautiful island of Arran. If you are looking to enjoy the relaxed lifestyle of living on one of Scotland’s finest islands then we have just the job for you.
Lamlash is a 24 hour, single vehicle station, working 12 hours shifts on both day and night shifts. The station is situated in the middle of the three main villages on Arran and is five minutes from the ferry terminal. You will be welcomed into a highly skilled and experienced team working out of the ambulance station based next to Arran War Memorial Hospital in Lamlash. The 17-bed hospital has an A&E unit, x-ray on site, and a range of outpatient services including physio, OT, etc. Patients requiring definitive care are transferred to Crosshouse or other hospitals either by ferry on a mainland ambulance or helicopter
As part of the island team you will work closely with the hospital and GP teams as well as colleagues in Community Nursing, Social Work, Police, Coastguard, Mountain Rescue, RNLI and CalMac to deliver exceptional care to a population of around 5,000, rising to 20,000 in the summer months.
Off duty, Arran is a beautiful place to live with many outdoor activities including hill climbing, sailing, golf and cycling to name but a few, as well as several gyms. There is one modern High School in Lamlash serving the island, and five Primary Schools around the island. The mainland is accessible via a regular ferry service which takes around an hour, with onward connections to Glasgow and beyond by road and public transport easily accessible.
