Director of Wellbeing at Finn’s Place | Creator of the Radical Happiness Model | Helping Leaders Build Resilient, Impactful Teams and Communities
Are you someone who people naturally open up to?
Do you love creating spaces where others feel safe, seen, and supported?
Want to be part of a small but mighty team who care deeply about community wellbeing?
We’re looking for a Project Worker to help us embed a culture of listening at Finn’s Place — a community wellbeing space in the southside of Glasgow.
This new role is all about offering a warm welcome, supporting our volunteers, and helping people find the activities or support that meets their needs — whether that’s a chat over tea or signposting to local services.
You don’t need fancy qualifications. What we really need is heart, people skills, reliability, and a belief that everyone deserves to be heard.
Is this you?
* You’re warm, friendly, and great at listening
* You can chat to anyone and help them feel at ease
* You’re up for rolling your sleeves up in a small team
* You believe in community, inclusion and kindness
At Finn’s Place, we work in an Asset-Based Community Development way — which is just a fancy way of saying we believe people and communities have wisdom, skills, and magic already within them. We don’t believe people need “fixed”. We listen, we connect, and we create space and opportunity for what’s already good to grow. You don’t need to know all the jargon, just bring curiosity and a belief in people’s potential.
To apply: Read job description & send your CV and a wee note about why you’re interested to Colette at director@finnsplace.org. Let us know if you need any adjustments or have something that would be helpful for us to be aware of — we want to hear from all kinds of humans.
Job Title: Project Worker
Location: Finn’s Place, Langside Church Halls, 167 Ledard Road, Glasgow
Contract Type: Part-time, Fixed Term (6 months)
Hours: 16 hours per week (times to be agreed, Tuesday availability essential)
Pay Rate: £13 per hour
Reporting to: Director (aka Colette)
Funded by: Glasgow Area Partnership Fund
About the Role
This new role supports our mission to create a warm, listening culture at Finn’s Place and beyond. The Project Worker will coordinate and embed a new approach to listening, support volunteer recruitment and development, and ensure every visitor to our space is welcomed and supported with care and kindness. This is a pilot project in partnership with Listen Well Scotland, and the role will be vital in helping us demonstrate the impact of community listening so we can seek funding for longer-term continuation.
Key Responsibilities
* Offer a warm and inclusive welcome to everyone who walks through our door
* Build genuine relationships with visitors to understand their needs and signpost them to the right activities or support — both internally and externally
* Help embed a culture of listening by encouraging volunteers, staff and community members to practise mindfulness, presence and curiosity
* Work alongside the director to recruit, support, and nurture volunteers as part of a growing team of listeners and community contributors
* Be a helpful host - keeping our refreshment table topped up and the space welcoming
* Answer phone calls and participant questions with warmth and clarity
* Support group wellbeing activities where appropriate (or facilitate your own if you’re up for it!)
* Help us track and reflect on the impact of this pilot
* Work with an Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) mindset — focusing on people’s strengths, potential, and gifts rather than just their needs. You don’t need to be an expert in ABCD, just open to learning and working in that way.
Essential Skills & Qualities
* Warm, approachable, and inclusive
* Excellent listener who can hold space for others with compassion
* Reliable and proactive – happy to get stuck in with whatever’s needed
* Experience supporting volunteers or working in community-facing roles
* Strong ability to build rapport and make others feel safe and seen
* Comfortable working alongside lots of different people with a range of needs and behaviours
* You love learning and growing with people, and you’re open to developing with us
Bonus (Nice but not needed!)
* Coaching, Listening or group facilitation experience
* You’ve been known to make a mean soup or meal and wouldn’t mind making this for our community
* Have experience of or interest in social impact measurement & fundraising
* Be carbon footprint conscious
* Aren’t too shabby at social media
