This company, involved in the design and manufacture of advanced electronics products and systems, is seeking a number of Graduate Hardware Design Engineers to be involved in High-speed FPGA design using VHDL (Xilinx and/or Altera).
Primary Roles
1. Implementation of high-speed signal processing designs in FPGA
2. Signal processing architecture development
3. Formulating hardware and development timescale estimates
Key Skills
You will be degree qualified and will be able to demonstrate comprehensive knowledge in some of the following areas:
1. High-speed FPGA design using VHDL (Xilinx and/or Altera)
2. VHDL simulation (ModelSim)
3. VHDL synthesis for FPGA (any of Mentor, Synplicity, XST, Quartus, etc)
4. Hardware/board design
5. Embedded processors (NIOS/NIOS-II, MicroBlaze/PicoBlaze, Xilinx PowerPC)
A working knowledge of one or more of the following areas would be an advantage:
1. Matlab
2. Signal processing algorithms and architectures (FFT, filterbanks, multirate filtering, image processing)
3. Physical layer communications (modulation/demodulation, equalisation, coding/decoding, satcoms, mobile)
4. Defence systems (radar, sonar, SIGINT, EW)
The position requires very close communication with the commercial and engineering teams; consequently, the candidate must have the knowledge and the interpersonal skills to fit into a dedicated group of people.
