About the role
We are looking for 4 family workers across Dorchester and West Locality. We have various positions available across the team from full time and part time posts. You will be based in either County Hall in Dorchester or in the Bridport Family Hub, depending on your preference. Please indicate on your application form where you would prefer to be based and what sort of hours you would be interested in working.
These are exciting posts where you will be working in a Family Help team as part of our new Pathfinder model alongside our social care colleagues. We need energetic and quick learners to join the existing teams. You will be supporting our family help teams, which involves direct work with children and their families, creating, supporting and contributing to multi-agency plans and interventions to improve outcomes for children and young people in Dorset. You will have opportunities for career progression and professional development.
This role will be responsible for the delivery of support to children, young people and families in localities, taking a whole family approach.
At Grade 8, the post holder will:
* Deliver direct work with children, young people, parents and families in the family home and other community locations.
* Convene and attend Team Around the Family (TAF) meetings, family plans and reviews.
* Use relevant case management systems, databases and business intelligence tools as directed by the team manager.
* Provide information, advice and guidance to children, young people and families.
* Co-work cases with other professionals including social workers.
* Assess parenting skills and help to build physical and emotional caring abilities through a range of practical activities.
* Deliver parenting and behaviour management support to children and families.
* Coach, mentor and motivate families to make and sustain change.
* Support families during crisis situations.
* Support schools in the local area by being their link worker between family help and schools.
* Have experience of working with and supporting children and/or families.
* Be dedicated to improving outcomes for Dorset's children and young people.
* Be self-motivated, enthusiastic and used to working in a fast-paced environment.
* Work as part of a team and also use your own initiative.
Further Information
This is for a full-time role at 37 hours per week and part-time roles for various hours. This post requires significant travel. You must have a vehicle (or transport we deem suitable) available for use as needed.
