We are looking for a pharmacy technician with experience in aseptic services to work within our team. We are dynamic, offering the opportunity to specialise in various roles within the department to suit your skill set.
We have successfully bid to begin to transform how monoclonal antibodies and chemotherapy is managed, and we are looking for pharmacy technicians who will begin to deliver new ways of working on our state of the art chemotherapy units.
We offer progression opportunities for staff, so if you are interested in this role, we will consider applicants who may not meet all the essential criteria at a band 4 with the support to move to band 5 once ready.
Main duties of the job
You will work in core areas of Pharmacy as well as on the chemotherapy day units. You will be a competent team leader, overseeing workload and resource. We are looking for pharmacy technicians who have, or are working towards an accredited accuracy checking qualification, and who have strong communication and proven leadership skills. Candidates will be highly motivated, a team player and someone that can respond to the pace of a busy acute Trust.
The new role will require a pharmacy technician who is passionate about patient care, and can communicate with nursing staff to best manage the day to day delivery of treatments, manage appointments, and oversee oral chemotherapy supplies. We are looking to also reduce waste and improve medicines management across the service, this will require the right candidate to contribute to training of nursing staff and regular audit activity.
The right candidate must have excellent organisational skills and be a strong communicator.

1. Support the Assistant Directors of Pharmacy in providing a high quality, cost effective and efficient patient centered pharmacy service to the Trust
2. Maintain and develop the highest standards of patient-focused care in the provision of Technical Services
3. Support the governance and medicines risk management agenda locally
4. Support the development of the technician and assistant teams to complement and facilitate multidisciplinary working
5. Act as a role model in the field of clinical technician pharmacy practice and provide a consistently high level of pharmaceutical service in line with corporate objectives and government initiatives
6. Support the agreed policies and procedures for safe medicines use and support mechanisms to promote high quality medicine use, effective risk management, clinical governance and adherence to Trust policies and guidelines concerning medicines use
