Weld Process Engineer in Cheswick, Pennsylvania

We are looking for a Weld Process Engineer to join our Pittsburgh (Cheswick) location.
Your Responsibilities:
1. Weld and braze personnel qualification oversight.
2. Filler metal inventory and quality management.
3. Weld tooling development.
4. Non-product routing development.
5. Supervision of Development Lab technicians.
6. Evaluate top problematic weld joints at EMD and resolve issues through design, manufacturing, and implementation of improved weld fixtures/tooling, and create mockups for training and prove-outs of weld operators.
7. Track weld related NCRs and work directly with welders and Weld Lab Technicians to understand the problem and what can be done to prevent recurrence.
8. Understand and work with Manufacturing Engineers to improve manufacturing steps before, during, and after welding operations to mitigate processing issues that negatively affect welding.
9. Create drawings for procedural qualification, personnel qualifications, and mockups.
10. Support both procedural and personnel qualifications for welding and brazing: Work with Weld and Materials Engineers to procure material, create work instructions, and follow execution and inspection of the qualification samples.
11. Lead development, manufacturing, and implementation of support tooling for weld and brazing operations for existing products and new product development.
12. Supervise and prioritize assignments for AWSE Development Lab technician staff.
13. Manage Cheswick site filler metal inventory with respect to production needs and quality requirements, with assistance from Weld and Materials engineers.
14. Work with laboratory equipment vendors to generate proposals for new capital asset equipment, as necessary.
15. Provide material and time estimates for customer scopes of work in support of proposals.
16. Demonstrate fundamental project planning skills and understanding of cost and schedule implications.
17. Perform work in accordance with departmental procedures and instructions, CW policies, and safety, environmental, and security rules and guidelines.
What you Bring:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Technical Engineering Specialty such as Mechanical, Materials, or Weld Engineering. Master’s Degree would be a plus.
2. Minimum prior work experience of 3+ years in engineering support of heavy component manufacturing including machining and welding/brazing operations.
3. Effective writing and documentation skills.
4. Must be a USA citizen.
Preferred Experience:
1. Prior Nuclear, Defense, or Power Generation experience with rotating machinery.
2. Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning software such as Oracle.
