The overall department direction leads and undertakes engineering projects as part of the in-service engineering team within Babcock Navel Nuclear Business Unit.
The role
As a Senior Systems & Transversals Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will be leading and undertaking engineering projects as part of the In-Service Engineering team within our Naval Nuclear Business Unit.
Day to day, you’ll lead and deliver transversal engineering projects, as well as assessing engineering operations through the generation and application of engineering processes, governance and capability plans. This includes:
1. Leading and undertaking engineering projects across multiple domains and disciplines.
2. Working closely with relevant Subject Matter Experts across Babcock, the MoD and other key stakeholders.
3. Generating and applying engineering processes, governance and capability artefacts
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the office/onsite and 3 days working from home. Office location can be ether Bristol, Plymouth, or Rosyth.
Essential experience of the Senior Systems Engineer
4. Understand and deliver technical requirements.
5. Experience of driving innovation and improving the effectiveness and efficiency of products and processes.
6. Experience managing projects and tasks in a constantly shifting environment including the delivery of tasks on time, within budget and meeting customer quality standards.
7. Have a familiarity with commercial (including sub-contract) processes.
8. Proficient in the use of appropriate Project Management tools
Qualifications for the Senior Systems Engineer
You will ideally have one of the following:
9. Degree in a relevant STEM discipline; or
10. Qualified to HND / BTEC Level 5 in a relevant STEM discipline may be acceptable augmented by experience in a relevant engineering field.
11. Chartered or Incorporated Engineer, or have a working plan in place demonstrating how this will be achieved with an appropriate engineering institution.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
