Outreach Advisory Teacher

This is an exciting role and one that will enable the successful candidate help support the students and schools of Mendip that are experiencing challenge.
The Role
* To provide support to education settings to ensure the inclusion and achievement of pupils
* To deliver sessions for pupils and support for staff in mainstream settings
* To complete specialist (SEND) assessments for schools
Key Responsibilities
* Provide specialised advice and guidance to education establishments, to ensure the inclusion and achievement of pupils
* Provide specialist assessment for schools. E.g SEND assessments, sensory assessments, etc
* Build capacity within education establishments in Mendip
* To empower schools to develop inclusive learning environments and to remove barriers to learning, in line with current local and national strategies
* Provide highly specialised advice and guidance to schools, to support students to achieve academically and pastorally.
* Manage a caseload of pupils and be accountable for supporting schools. Produce high quality notes of visit to accurately record agreed actions and progress/outcomes as a result of the specialist advice and guidance provided
* To advise schools on high quality teaching and inclusive approaches: including the effective and efficient use of available SEND resources, Trauma informed practice, Nurture principles, etc
* To treat students, staff and parents fairly, equitably and with dignity and respect to create and maintain a positive school culture. This will be at the school and the partnership schools with which they work.
* To actively form meaningful relationships with vulnerable young people, parents and school staff
* Assess, record & report on the development and progress of students
* Attend meetings, carry out administrative tasks and duties commensurate with the role as well as those specified in the Staff Handbook
* Implement the school relational policy and their principles of Ready, Safe, Respect
* Participate in full staff and team meetings
* Engage in the school Professional development process; to participate in professional development activities so as to enhance personal / team performance and be able to participate effectively in the implementation of the school goals and Development Plan
* Maintain the highest standards when representing the school with all stakeholders
* To advise schools on high quality teaching
Skills and Qualifications
* Honours degree or equivalent
* Qualified Teacher Status
* Experience of working with vulnerable young people in a mainstream or specialist setting
* Working with SEND or working with primary pupils (KS1 or KS2)
* An ability to form trusting, positive relationships with young people and use this to support in times of need/crisis
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for working in partnership with pupils, parents, colleagues and the ability to develop strong relationships
* An ability to actively addresses SEMH needs whilst delivering lessons/teaching/with students.
* Desire and willingness to actively seek out opportunities to positively engage with students.
* An ability to set tasks that challenge and engage pupils or families with a balance of support and challenge and independence
* Positive behaviour management skills which also support pupils to develop positive strategies for managing their emotions effectively
