Finance Manager - UK, Ireland and South Africa
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Finance Manager UK, Ireland and South Africa, based out of Knowsley, UK supports the Finance and Accounting Group in a key accounting role and is responsible for the tax filings, month-end close process, reconciliation reporting, variance analysis, audits, enforcing department accounting policies and other ad-hoc projects. Additionally, this role leads with our SAP initiatives and internal and external financial reporting.
This role faces several key customers as part of both daily responsibilities and as part of project teams, including Finance, Business Unit Finance and Analytical Finance.
The Finance Manager UK, Ireland and South Africa will report to the Finance Director EMEA, lead a team of 7 associates and 10 legal entities.
WHERE YOUR EXPERTISE IS NEEDED
• Lead Financial statement preparation for all the legal entities in scope and lead the statutory audit process
• Supervise VAT returns preparation and submissions, VAT accounting, Intrastat reporting for UK, Ireland and South Africa
• Monthly income tax calculation, quarterly income tax provision - current and deferred taxes, income tax accounting
• Provide leadership and supervision for the accounting teams in the UK, Ireland and South Africa
• Working with external consultants on annual income tax return preparation as well as managing and supporting requirements for tax savings / benefits such as R&D
• Responsible to assisting in complex global initiatives such as legal entity harmonization, global cash repatriation, inter-company transactions including loans and equity contributions Responsible for the monthly and quarterly closing process for local company financial statements, including reconciliation of balance sheet and income statement accounts
• Improves and assists in the creation of new processes to optimize and standardize our global accounting processes in line with local accounting processes
• Managing the liquidity flow for UK, Ireland and South Africa legal entity, collaborating with Corporate Treasury
• Partners with peers on the team, as well as cross functionally with those in other areas such as Analytical Finance, Corporate Accounting, Treasury and Tax
• Responsible for performing daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual accounting requirements, including, but not limited to, journal entries, reconciliations, analysis of activities and reporting.
• Responsible for other activities and processes such as SOX, external audits, tax audits and internal audits
ABOUT YOU
Essential
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• 8 years + experience in Accounting and Finance with preference experience with a Big 4
• Income Tax / VAT practical knowledge
• Proficiency in written and spoken English and any other European language is a strong asset
• Strong communication skills
• Organizational skills, a self-starter with high level of analytical skills and resilience
• Working knowledge of SAP highly desirable
• US GAAP, IFRS and UKgaap
Desirable
• ACCA or CIMA Qualified Accountant
• Proven team leadership experience
• Experience with SOX Compliance
• Working knowledge of Hyperion, SAP and S4Hana
