We are looking for a Maintenance Assistant to join our Building service team in Mansfield, Nottingham. You will efficiently and effectively carry out planned, breakdown and emergency maintenance of a wide range of engineering or building related services, fabric and finishes either in support of a craftsperson or when working on an individual basis.
What you'll do:
1. The completion of tasks either as part of the PPM system or work issues as part of the planned work programme to an appropriate standard. This will include for example the following: work in plant rooms, on engineering services, medical devices (beds, trolleys etc), portable equipment, catering equipment and fixed plant or on building fabric related work.
2. To undertake correctly and to a high standard the work associated with PPM (planned maintenance programme) or for planned work either when assisting a craftsperson or a technician or when working alone. Documentation is to be correctly completed as part of the record systems management requirements. Note: work to be undertaken is varied but by way of example could include one or all of the following:
3. Maintenance on the Dialysis Ward. Daily recording and inspection of water systems, changing of service filters, salt levels and free chlorine tests, softener inspection and regeneration if required.
4. Maintenance in the Operating Theatres. Cleaning and replacement of primary and secondary air filters, checking theatre lighting including operating lamps.
5. Maintenance of the building fabric. Inspection of doors and closing devices in all areas including Theatres.
6. External site services and infrastructure. Inspection of main drainage system, cleaning/unblocking and working with the specialist contractors, replacement of pipework and drainage fittings.
7. Boiler house maintenance.
8. Assisting with the maintenance and testing of the fire alarm systems, and attending when alarms are activated.
9. To take meter readings or other instrument readings as required.
10. Following engineering and building drawings and specifications.
11. Determine what spares, components or supplies are needed in order to satisfactorily undertake and complete the work associated with repair, routine servicing or new installations appropriate to the level of the post and the training/skill level.
What you'll bring to the role:
1. Full UK driving licence.
2. Knowledge of building services and general building maintenance.
3. Completed recognised training at Assistant Craft Level.
4. Minimum of 2 years’ experience working within building and building services maintenance.
5. Evidence of working within acute health care premises would be advantageous (but not essential).
