Clinical Lead - Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
This exciting new role provides an opportunity for a clinically registered professional (qualified nurse or allied health profession) with experience working in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) to support the West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board (WYICB - Leeds Place) to meet the statutory duties of the Children and Families Act (2014) and the SEND Code of Practice (2014) for children and young people aged 0-25 years who have SEND.
We are looking for a confident and forward-thinking person to lead and coordinate the contribution of high-quality and timely health advice to Education Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), oversee the review and monitoring of EHCPs, and promote the role of health in SEND. This will include guidance and support in relation to Initial Assessments, Annual Reviews, multi-agency panels, and Quality Assurance.
This is a senior post that will support the work of NHS West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board (Leeds place) to improve the lives of children, young people who have special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), and their families and carers.
The successful candidate will work closely with system partners across health, education, local authorities, and children and young people with SEND and their parents/carers.
Main duties of the job
This post holder will lead and coordinate health services contribution to the Education Health and Care Assessment and Review process. This will include:
* Providing expert guidance and advice to ICB, Health Providers, Parent Carers, children and young people, and key partners in relation to health's role in SEND and Education Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
* Coordinating health's response to EHC needs assessments, mediations, and Extended Appeals.
* Developing and undertaking training and Quality Assurance in relation to Health Advice in EHCPs.
The postholder will form part of the health SEND team, working closely with the EHCSEND health coordinators and the SEND DCO and will be part of our Leeds Health and Care Partnership where we work together with our partners and the people of Leeds with a commitment to share resources, ideas, and best practices to improve health outcomes and reduce health inequalities across the city.
The postholder will work flexibly to meet the needs of our system. We are proud to be part of the West Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership and you will be expected to contribute, and sometimes lead, on work across the West Yorkshire geography.
