Purpose: The purpose of this role is to supervise/line manage a team of PWPs while maintaining a reduced clinical caseload, under the guidance of a Hub Lead PWP. You will need a secure knowledge of low intensity treatments to support PWPs with clinical decision making. There is a duty/screening element to the role, and at times you will need to discuss complex cases in liaison meetings with external services to ensure the most appropriate level of care for patients. You will have the opportunity to be involved in the ongoing development of our service through Special Interest Groups, projects, and working groups.
Principal Accountabilities:
1. Clinical Support: Support PWPs in clinical decision making through Clinical Caseload Management Supervision (CCMS) to identify appropriate treatment options for the presenting symptoms of their patients. If a decision on treatment cannot be decided in CCMS (e.g. due to complexity), discuss this with a Lead PWP or the wider SPWP team to agree on the best course of action.
2. Support the Telephone and Referral Centre (TARC) on a weekly rota basis, which includes calling patients that have identified risk concerns at referral to risk assess and follow suitable next steps.
3. Screen referrals and make decisions on suitability for our service following NHSTT protocols.
4. Provide risk supervision/debriefs to PWPs when needed.
5. Liaise with external services to coordinate patient care through multidisciplinary meetings, emails, or phone calls.
6. Work on a rota basis to provide evening duty cover for the clinical team and provide additional cover for sickness/annual leave.
7. Maintain a reduced clinical caseload alongside managerial responsibilities.
8. Work closely with external services and colleagues in Step 3 (High intensity), ensuring appropriate arrangements are in place in line with the stepped care approach and no wrong door policy.
9. Complete all requirements relating to data collection and recording within the service, recording all clinical and nonclinical activity on our patient management system in a timely manner.
10. Complete Patient Experience Questionnaires (PEfaceQs) with patients.
Management:
1. Provide line management, clinical skills groups, and clinical supervision for PWPs as needed.
2. Support supervisees to participate in ongoing professional and personal development.
3. Identify training needs and opportunities for continuing professional development (CPD).
4. Shortlist and interview Assistant, Trainee, and Qualified PWPs candidates.
5. Deliver training and induction sessions as needed.
6. Confirm PWPs competence to practice by assessing their work through live supervision, auditing notes, and case management supervision.
7. Ensure that line managed staff maintain appropriate IAPTus clinical records in keeping with service operational policy and best clinical practice.
Professional:
1. Ensure information governance processes are followed and respond to incidents in a timely manner, in compliance with GDPR protocols.
2. Prepare for and attend clinical/managerial supervision regularly.
3. Attend all supervisions, wellbeing meetings, and service meetings.
4. Participate in individual annual appraisal review and respond to agreed service objectives.
5. Attend relevant conferences/workshops/training.
6. Keep up to date all records in relation to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and ensure personal development plan maintains up to date specialist knowledge of latest theoretical and service delivery models/developments.
