Electrical Test Engineer £40,000 - £42,000 Monday – Friday (Mon - Thurs 08:30 - 17:00 / Friday - 08:30 - 12:30) Wigan BX2 are recruiting for a Electrical Test Engineer. The role will be to provide electrical testing expertise, specifying testing plans, methods and equipment to determine product electrical performance, ensuring compliance with customer, industry and international standards. Electrical Test Engineer Skills, Experience, and education required: Minimum 5 years in a testing environment with proven methodological expertise. Knowledge of 8D or similar problem-solving tool, analysis of data to prove hypotheses. Knowledge of laboratory engineering test processes and materials/cable testing Working knowledge and ability to interpret international standards & specifications Working knowledge of using electrical test equipment in a safe manner. Automotive or Aerospace experience (Desirable) Electrical Test Engineer Key Responsibilities and Duties: To lead and provide expertise on all aspects of electrical testing to minimise the occurrence of defective products or services. Lead teams to identify and implement opportunities for electrical performance/test continuous improvement. Liaise with departments on product electrical performance, electrical test requirements and implications on product fit form and function. Disseminate the companies electrical testing knowledge To provide expertise, assisting Design with the identification and effective communication of electrical performance and testing requirements for existing and new products. To create test plans and schedules to prove compliance to requirements. To document compliance of electrical performance through Lab Reports, APQP tools and customer specific documentation. Assist Design at the onset of new product development with electrical test requirements and implications on product design. Facilitate introduction of new or improved products through implementation of new and enhanced electrical test methods To document electrical tests to be performed on raw materials, completed products and product samples in accordance with the product design, customer specifications, and international standards. To create training materials and provide training and competency assessment to people performing electrical tests in a safe and repeatable way. To investigate electrical non-conforming material, determining the mechanism of failure, facilitating root causes, and corrective actions. Ensure timely 8D reports/CAPAs are produced, followed up and closed out. To manage departmental (and selected plant) electrical measurement equipment, ensuring it is suitable for the intended use, maintained, calibrated, and is compliant with all relevant standards/performance requirements. To specify and identify new equipment. To maintain the calibration system. Maintain departmental (and selected plant) test and measurement equipment. Ensuring it is fit for intended purpose and safe to use. Undertake internal electrical test and measurement equipment calibrations when internal facilities allow. Maintain departmental calibration system. Identify and specify new test and measurement equipment. Provide training upon its introduction To assist Procurement with the identification and assessment of new suppliers and materials. To undertake and support internal and external audit activities. Support product and business systems audit activities. To perform more complicated electrical testing. Undertake laboratory electrical tests and report findings. Assist departmental laboratory team members where resource is temporarily unavailable
