Interim EHC/SEN Coordinator – Education

Pay Rate: £235.00 per day PAYE
Hours per week: 35-37 Monday – Friday, normal working hours
Role Length: This opening assignment is for 3 months

The purpose of the role is to manage the EHC needs assessment process for a set locality. The key contact and responsible for carrying out day to day casework, ensuring quality, consistency and the effective prioritisation of tasks for a set number of cases within a locality.
Key responsibilities:
Ensure that all processes and decisions are accurately recorded on the SEN database and the casework file and that all relevant parties are informed.
Ensure that all children have their EHC plans reviewed annually and that, where required, transition plans are completed.
Provide advice and support to parents, schools and professionals in accordance with the Education Act 1996, regulations, the SEN code of Practice and Hampshire County Council policies and procedures.
Reviewing reports received and extracting relevant information to put into EHC plans.
Obtaining information and making recommendations to the appropriate officer who confirms the final decision, in cases where an exception to transport policy is requested.
Responsible for compiling information from pupils’ case files for use at panel meetings (fortnightly) and to provide information and record outcomes.
Make recommendations regarding the use of/make changes to forms used within the SEN Service.
Qualifications:
Good standard of education, ‘A’ level or equivalent qualifications and/or experience.
Knowledge:
A knowledge of the wider issues related to the provision of education services, the maintained school system and social inclusion.
A detailed understanding of and the ability to apply the requirements of the SEN statutory framework (Children and Families Act 2014, The Special Educational Needs and Disability Regulations 2014 and the SEN code of Practice) and the County Council’s policies and procedures, including those for school transport.
Experience:
Minimum of two years successful experience in education administration or a related field including decision making within agreed procedures and the drafting of related correspondence.
Must have experience in tribunals and preparing packs etc.
Must have experience carrying out 20 week assessment work.
Experience of working in a similar role within an LA – 12 months minimum ideally longer to experience the whole cycle.
Must be competent to talk about their previous caseloads and experience as well as the statutory process, 250+ caseloads experience.
Skills & Abilities:
Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite, Adobe Pro).
