Senior Controls Engineer
* Location: Kidlington
* Type: Full-time, Permanent
* Hours: 40 hours per week
An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Controls Engineer to join the Electrical Controls & Software department in a rapidly expanding and exciting environment.
About The Role
The role involves providing controls design, embedded software, and tools capabilities to the Control Systems and basic software team.
What You Will Do
* Design and implement control strategies to meet system requirements.
* Create and maintain application software architecture using AUTOSAR.
* Derive and implement software requirements from system specifications using MATLAB/Simulink.
* Develop and execute MIL/SIL testing; support HIL rig and system testing.
* Support IEC 61508/ISO 26262 safety processes, ensuring tools meet industry standards.
* Develop, maintain, and enhance control system tools, scripts (MATLAB, Python, etc.), and MATLAB apps.
* Collaborate with team members and stakeholders, contribute to patentable IP.
* Maintain documentation, provide technical support, and stay updated on industry advancements.
About You
* Engineering degree or equivalent with experience in automotive ECU software development.
* Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink/Stateflow and AUTOSAR standards.
* Experience with IEC 61508 or ISO 26262 safety processes.
* Experience with high-voltage components, BMS, HV controllers, charging systems, DC-DC converters, or thermal management.
* Strong modeling and model-based development skills.
* Proficient in embedded C and Git.
* Knowledge of ISO 14229 diagnostics and fault monitoring.
* Experience developing control system tools, APIs, MATLAB apps, SharePoint solutions.
* Skilled in MATLAB, Python, VBA, Perl, AUTOSAR/ASPICE tools; scripting skills are a plus.
* Experience with large projects, mentoring, and strong communication skills.
* Knowledge of testing, calibration, measurement techniques.
* Familiarity with CANape, CANoe, CANalyzer, and automotive protocols.
* Ability to automate tasks using MATLAB scripting and CI/CD.
* Control theory and advanced control methods knowledge.
* Problem-solving and software quality frameworks understanding.
