The Role: As a part of the Rolling Stock Engineering team, you will be involved and successfully deliver a wide variety of maintenance engineering projects. The key focus of activity will be maintenance optimisation, helping clients such as Train Operators or Rolling Stock Leasing Companies to develop maintenance and overhaul manuals, extend or optimise schedules, condition-based maintenance or justify continued service operation of assets. In addition to maintenance projects there will be opportunities to be involved in other Rolling Stock engineering projects such as problem-solving tasks or feasibility studies. As you might expect, the Rolling Stock team is not only involved in passenger rolling stock. We also undertake projects on locomotives as well as On-track Machines and engineering vehicles. The Rolling Stock type might be electric or battery and diesel powered but it may also be new, state-of-the-art technology such as battery / battery hybrid. The role is hybrid, however a flexible mindset is essential. You may be required to work on-site at our client’s premises for a period of time, as well as in our Derby office or other locations as the job dictates. Essential Skills/Knowledge: Proven background in Rolling Stock Maintenance or Fleet Engineering and project delivery, for example - Engineering department of a Maintenance Provider, Train Operator or Rolling Stock Leasing Company. Experience of working in the depot environment. Experience of applying professional engineering judgement to support engineering projects. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Desirable Requirements: Engineering Degree (BEng or MEng) or equivalent preferred Knowledge of engineering safety management and its application within the railway environment or equivalent would be an advantage.
