Job Purpose & Scope
This key role will redefine the future of our product range. The New Product Development Manager will lead the product innovation roadmap, owning all aspects of new product development and ensuring we deliver growth for the business.
The focus of this role will be on savings and mortgages. The Society's ancillary product ranges are also within the scope of this role, but this will be to a lesser degree.
Duties and Key Responsibilities
* Lead the development of an effective product and channel strategy, meeting the goals of the business strategy and customer need.
* Identify emerging opportunities where existing or new products could add value and transform them into actionable strategies.
* Bring identified opportunities to market, from gaining internal approval to working with internal and external stakeholders to get the initiatives live
* Network with key stakeholders (colleagues, customers, industry bodies etc.) to bring insight and value to product developments as well as identify potential target customers.
* Act as the voice of the customer within the business both commercially and technically, engaging with, interpreting, and understanding customer needs, particularly throughout new product development process.
* Maintain a strong awareness of the external market, monitor and understand developments in the financial services sector. Consider and challenge the possible implications for the Society.
* Identify and manage risks associated with product development and implementation.
* Support the maintenance of the Product Governance Policy ensuring that policy and processes are adhered to.
* Ensure that positive risk behaviours are championed and that the Risk Management Framework is adhered to.
* Ensure all internal Committee reports are of appropriate quality standards and delivered to stipulated timescales.
* Continuously drive improvements in product related management information, ensuring that it remains relevant, is accurate and supports timely decision making.

Person Specification
Qualifications & Knowledge
Essential
* A detailed knowledge of savings markets and associated regulatory regimes, customer conduct/outcomes, and FCA operational principles.
Experience
* Proven track record of new product development from market analysis and concept development to launch.
* Experience of working with savings intermediaries would be preferred.
Skills & Abilities
* High level of negotiating and influencing skills required
* Ability to interpret relevant information, analyse financial and customer profile data and make recommendations for improvement
* Ability to think strategically and to identify opportunities
* Able to prioritise opportunities, challenges and tasks to achieve successful outcomes.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills. A proven ability to write proposals with clear, succinct recommendations.
