Project Manager – Preheating and Pressure Reduction Station (PRS) Upgrades

We have an opportunity to bring a Project Manager into the Capital Delivery Team. This one vacancy is network wide and can be based out of either our Leeds, Sunderland or Carlisle offices. The role will primarily be carrying out works on preheating upgrades and PRS site upgrades, so a strong background in mechanical and civils works is preferred, however other disciplines will also be affected by the works, such as electrical and instrumentation, so the applicant will be expected to be able to demonstrate their versatility in applying their engineering understanding across all disciplines.
Whilst there will be support from other teams within the business in delivering the projects, the role requires that the candidate take a lead in all matters relating to their projects, and your key accountabilities and responsibilities will include but will not be limited to
• Carrying out site SHEQ inspections and audits to ensure compliance with industry codes and standards
• Reviewing construction designs for buildability
• Producing, tendering and awarding contracts for design, materials and construction projects
• Management of NEC4 contracts, including the assessment of commercial applications / variations
• Providing progress updates and updating programmes
• Accurately reporting commercial forecasts
• Producing and presenting business cases for schemes
• Building an SCO portfolio, working to become a Competent Person capable of issuing Permits to Work and some Non-Routine Operations
• Coordinating contractors, colleagues from NGN Maintenance Team and equipment suppliers to ensure that outputs are met without programme delays
What we are looking for in our Project Manager – Preheating and PRS Upgrades
• Knowledge of regulations applicable to the construction industry
• Experience of managing the delivery of construction projects, preferably in line with the role
• Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of management of construction projects and associated contracts
• Must be able to evidence how they accurately manage the costs and programme for a live project
• Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of Programme Management, preferably able to use planning software tools to create and or update programmes
• Qualification in further education such as HND or Degree in an engineering or construction specific discipline would be advantageous
• Experience of working with Safe Systems of Work, ideally with experience of issuing or receiving permits
• Must be capable of using MS Office software
• Must have a valid UK drivers license and access to a car
