Job Title: Booking Clerk
Location: Lister Hospital, Stevenage
Hours: 37.5hrs per week 8-4 Mon-Fri
Trust Location: East & North Hertfordshire NHS Trust
What you’ll be responsible for:
1. The post-holder will provide and support an efficient and effective range of administrative duties within Haematology.
2. Have a professional, confident and polite telephone manner with patients and will be able to manage constantly changing priorities and deadlines.
3. To liaise with patients and trust colleagues, face-to-face, by telephone and by e-mail, to ensure patient’s appointments are booked, cancelled, and monitored efficiently.
4. The post-holder will book patients into both short notice and reasonable notice clinics and work closely with the Pathway Co-ordinator to identify patients who need to be seen urgently to ensure patients do not.
5. They will book patients for 'consent' appointments prior to their surgery dates and identify/inform Pathway Co-ordinator of challenges with capacity.
6. To support with validation of long waiters and ensuring RTT clocks are correct.
You’ll learn the following whilst working at the trust:
1. An in depth understanding of the roles and responsibilities involved in working within the NHS
2. Knowledge of the systems used, to effectively complete your role to the highest standard at all times
3. A sense of teamwork, gained through working alongside and supporting colleagues from all levels, within the organisation
You’ll have the following skills/experience:
1. Microsoft Office package knowledge e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel
2. Communications skills- both verbal and written
3. Excellent telephone manner
4. Ability to meet deadlines and manage workload
5. Previous administrative experience
6. Previous NHS experience
7. NHS System Knowledge
