Our client, a leading organization in the financial services sector, is urgently seeking an Infrastructure Engineer to support multiple new change projects. This hybrid role allows for remote working, with occasional office presence required—potentially just one day per week.
The IT Infrastructure Engineer will be pivotal in researching, designing, and delivering infrastructure solutions, working within formal project teams or independently on smaller change requests. Responsibilities include building, maintaining, and supporting test, development, and production infrastructure while ensuring compliance with corporate governance, security policies, and industry best practices. The engineer will also document processes, contribute to a Knowledge Base, and promote collaboration across IT teams.
Reporting to the IT Infrastructure Manager, the engineer will be responsible for escalating project issues as needed and making changes to production systems while ensuring their availability, security, and performance. The role involves delivering high-quality project solutions within agreed timelines and budgets, managing workloads effectively, and ensuring compliance with software licensing.
Key responsibilities include ensuring that infrastructure changes meet security, resilience, and operational standards, maintaining documentation throughout the project lifecycle, and preparing systems for handover to the BAU team. The engineer will also oversee disaster recovery, business continuity, and hardware/software resilience, manage change requests, and represent changes at CAB meetings.
The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills in Microsoft Cloud technologies (Azure, O), Windows administration, Active Directory, VMware vSphere, SANs (HPE 3PAR or Nimble), backup solutions (EMC Networker or Commvault), disaster recovery (Zerto), and networking (Cisco switches, Palo Alto Firewalls). Familiarity with monitoring tools (Splunk, Netcrunch), Microsoft applications (SQL Server, IIS, SharePoint), PowerShell scripting, and ITIL methodologies is highly desirable.
Experience in regulated environments, particularly financial services, is preferred. The candidate should possess excellent communication skills, be able to explain complex technical issues to a range of stakeholders, and work effectively with third-party suppliers. The engineer should be a self-starter with advanced troubleshooting abilities, capable of managing workloads to meet deadlines and proposing cost-effective solutions.
This is a unique opportunity to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, where you will contribute to innovative infrastructure projects that drive organizational success. If you are passionate about technology and eager to make an impact, we encourage you to apply.
