Pharmacy provides a comprehensive range of pharmaceutical services and extended clinical roles to many clinical areas, including tertiary specialities.
Our rotations are located on all the four main sites and most of your time will be spent in clinical areas, engaging with patients and colleagues.

Main duties of the job
* Experience across multiple specialities and hospital sites allowing you to develop a wide experience for your clinical pharmacy portfolio, with the opportunity to complete nine four-month rotations in areas such as:
* Medicine, Surgery, Stroke, Medicines Information, Intensive Care, Orthopaedics, Neurology, Paediatrics, Renal, Infectious Diseases, Gastroenterology and Cancer.
* A postgraduate clinical diploma with Cardiff University
* Experience leading the dispensary during out-of-hours services.
* Working as part of the Hospital at Night team proactively reviewing patients requiring medicines optimisation.
* Three years of varied shift work to challenge and stretch you to become an expert at prioritisation and organisation.
* Growth opportunity, after completing two years of shift work and your post graduate certificate you will be eligible to progress to a band 7 position.
Join a team of friendly resident pharmacists who work collaboratively and are responsible for providing the Trust’s out-of-hours Pharmacy service. A fantastic amount of peer support is provided by working within such a close-knit team of like-minded individuals.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* To participate in the out of hours resident pharmacist rota, to all the Oxford University Hospitals. This involves working late and night shift patterns.
* To record all out of hours calls on the on call records database.
* To participate in the provision of comprehensive pharmaceutical services for all Oxford University Hospitals.
* Complete a local induction programme including core training, and maintain core skills throughout employment.
* Act as a role model for pharmacy within the Trust.
* Deliver compassionate excellence via a patient-focused clinical pharmacy service.
* Participate in and promote antimicrobial stewardship activities.
* Plan and organise your own workload.
* Support compliance with medicines related legislative and regulatory requirements.
* Undertake Audits and Quality Improvement Projects.
* Support the training and mentoring of our trainee pharmacists and technicians.
* Any other reasonable duties as requested.
Person specification
* Qualified to masters degree level (4 year MPharm or equivalent)
* Registered as a pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council before starting in post [August 2025]
* Good oral and written communication skills
* Knowledge and experience in clinical pharmacy
* Hospital experience
* Audit/Quality improvement
