We’re seeking an experienced veterinary surgeon with a passion for managing and delivering our affordable Advanced Referrals service. The Referral Lead Vet will ideally be based at our Ellesmere Port hospital. This role involves a balanced split: half the time will be spent performing advanced surgical procedures, while the other half will focus on managing the service, including travelling to other hospital sites to teach and mentor staff.
Responsibilities
* Develop the strategic vision, roadmap, and KPIs for the Animal Trust Advanced Referrals service across our hospitals. Ability to articulate these to different personas in the company.
* Deliver on the improvement roadmap by implementing solutions and influencing others across the company.
* Lead and inspire others by consistently demonstrating exemplary workplace behaviour and commitment to advancing the service.
* Overall accountability of referrals process, ensuring appropriate processes and infrastructure in place to grow referral service volume.
* Monitor, respond to, and report on key performance indicators to stakeholders, including the senior leadership team.
* Ongoing monitoring of barriers which will prevent the group, hospital and referrals team deliver the scope of service. Work with stakeholders to address barriers e.g. through recruitment, line management, training and equipment or buildings investments.
* Perform advanced surgical procedures at one of our hospital sites, preferably Ellesmere Port.
* Directly train and supervise staff in advance procedures by travelling to hospital sites currently in Bolton, Ellesmere Port, or Shrewsbury.
* Help to develop and upskill and network of colleagues at site level responsible for referral case management within their clinics e.g. holding internal CPD events or providing feedback.
* Identify opportunities to standardise procedures and equipment to support smarter spending and scalability of the service.
* Contribute to marketing of referral services, working with the marketing function to produce materials for referring practices, website updates, social media content, external CPD events for both B2B and B2C content.
Experience
* Ability to perform a range of advanced soft tissue and orthopaedic procedures. Postgraduate certification in small animal surgery or equivalent extensive experience would be desirable.
* Proven leadership and management skills.
* Direct training and supervision of other veterinary staff performing surgical procedures. Advanced coaching and mentoring skills.
* Line management and recruitment experience.
* Basic strategic thinking skills and ability to articulate a vision and story. Experience managing projects and creating a roadmap.
* Ability to demonstrate effectiveness without authority and across remote locations is desirable.
