We are seeking a Boat Superintendent to provide Support Services for maintenance, overhaul and upkeep of rigid hull inflatable boats for the USCG. The candidate must be able to support services for nonsupervisory work involving the dismantling, repairing, relocating, modifying, maintaining, aligning, and installing of a wide variety of marine machinery, equipment, and systems. The service is for systems such as propulsion machinery, propellers, etc. The work requires a practical knowledge of the mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and components of diverse marine machinery and their attachments. This includes detailed knowledge of the operating characteristics of the involved machinery, equipment, and systems; their functional relationships; the applicable installation and repair procedures, methods, and trade practices; and the unique environmental conditions under which work is performed aboard marine craft, for example, the lack of space between bulkheads and decks and the proximity of one type of machinery to another. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervise staff performing mechanical repairs and maintenance on USCG vessels. Performs equipment and component assessments and repairs. Be able to identify failures and potential failures Be able to assess the condition of boat and components Perform regular schedule boat maintenance to include the following: Oil and filter changes Greasing Component replacement Cleaning/ safety gear Component repair Conduct operational testing and quality inspections: Conduct operationally testing on the boat prior to delivery. MPC processing Ordering parts Managing progress and ensuring the work is performed correctly and on time, according to USCG standards, per contractual guidelines. Responsible for completing CFR submissions. Transport boat using company provided vehicle to pick up and deliver boats to and from client locations around the continental US. Must be able to launch and recover boats for testing and evaluation DESIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Familiar with MerCruiser bravo series outdrives Familiar with Hamilton jet drives Familiar with marine propulsion diesels under 300hp Familiar with DC Systems and schematics JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Must have High School Diploma. Must possess minimum of seven (7) years of experience as a marine machinery mechanic working in USCG maintenance environment. Must have current USCG approved boating course certification. Requires experience using various Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and excellent communication and organizational skills. Prior experience with RHIB for federal or USCG boats is desirable. Must provide a clean driving record. Must provide your own tools and toolbox. TRAVEL: Travel is required for this position. Travel will occur up to 10% of the time. Full per diem and company paid travel is provided. SECURITY: Must pass a standard background check. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Must be able to work in an office, industrial or shipboard environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature. Lifting and moving of materials not to exceed the guidelines set for one man lift. PLACE OF PERFORMANCE This task shall be performed in the Industrial Park Area in Virginia Beach, Virginia 23462, at our boat warehouse and repair facility.
