To assist the Technical Underwriting Department with their objective to improve the performance and profitable development of the Ageas Private Car, Commercial Vehicle, Niche, and Household accounts through BAU activities, tasks, and technical application.Main Responsibilities as an Assistant Technical Underwriter:
· Ensuring sound technical advice is provided on matters referred for assistance by other areas of the business. Being a technical point of referral to ensure correct application or clarification of underwriting rules and product covers, within authority levels. Triaging, investigating and taking ownership through to resolution of live errors that are reported to us by other areas of the business or external parties by phone or via the team mailbox.
· Support the technical teams to deliver profitable growth across all channels by the delivery of BAU, Simple Change and Strategic Change, ensuring accuracy and efficiency and delivering to agreed timescales and prioritised in line with AIL Strategy.
· Recommending any necessary improvements to our systems, documents, technical processes or products, and assisting with the control and review of policy wordings and associated technical documentation, focusing on any BAU efficiencies ensuring they are both effective and efficient with a keen eye on Automation, and AI, in support of continuous improvements.
· To contribute to the control of financial and reputational risk and impact on profitability through ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and regulation and managing the DAM Customer Communications register to ensure Technical UW deliver upon their obligations for Consumer Duty.
Skills and experience you need as an Assistant Technical Underwriter:
* An understanding of underwriting and pricing principles and experience of a wide range of technical issues, including the construction of policy wordings, and experience of at least one of Motor, Household, or Niche Insurance would be an advantage.
* A working knowledge of the personal lines market and of current legal/industry developments affecting the market.
* The jobholder should possess a good degree of numeracy, alongside analytical skills and the ability to interpret and present data.
