We are looking for an experienced clinical or counselling psychologist to lead on delivery of DBT skills groups within our adult community teams. You will be leading and supervising DBT practitioners delivering standalone DBT groups within Integrated Recovery Hubs to people accessing support within our Complex Emotional Needs pathway. You will also work alongside team psychologists supporting delivery of these interventions. DBT skills groups are one of the interventions in our Complex Emotional Needs clinical pathway, and you will need to work closely with the providers of the other elements of the pathway – Structured Clinical Management and our Complex Needs Services that deliver full DBT and MBT.
You will need to be trained in DBT to Intensive level or its equivalent. This post is a Trustwide position for our adult community services across the the 5 London boroughs we serve. As such you will be working across all these boroughs but with focus on where the greatest need is at any time. You will be expected to contribute to the DBT assessments and interventions provided by our Complex Needs Services to enable you to consolidate your DBT competencies.
You will be joining a large Psychology & Psychotherapies group in our community service line and you will be able to work closely alongside P&P colleagues. In particular we have a similar post for delivery of SCM and this affords great co-working opportunities.
Clinically you will be reviewing referrals for DBT skills groups, conducting assessments and pre-treatment commitment sessions for this intervention and co-facilitating DBT skills groups. You will deliver assessments in our Complex Needs Services and deliver full DBT within one of these services. You will be responsible for ensuring there is a system in place for recording outcomes for patients accessing this intervention.
You will be responsible for leading on recruiting to DBT practitioners and supporting them to access the required training to deliver DBT skills groups. You will provide clinical and professional supervision to this staff group and support them to develop their competencies in assessing for the DBT skills groups.
As a senior clinician in the community service line you will be helping with the development of our personality disorder pathway. This could also include looking at the provision for people struggling with emotional dysregulation but who do not meet threshold for diagnosis.

Springfield University Hospital, Tooting
· To lead in the development and the systematic provision of a high-quality specialist personality disorder interventions, specifically Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) skills groups in adult community services
· To work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise delegated responsibility for the systematic governance of psychological and psychotherapy practices within the community service line, in the delivery of evidence-based interventions for people with personality disorders.
· To ensure that systems are in place and working effectively for the clinical supervision of all staff in adult community services delivering Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) skills groups for people with personality disorders in the IRH/RST/CMHT.
· To ensure that there are clear and effective systems for the identification of CPD needs across the service/sector in relation to evidence based interventions for people with personality disorders within the community service line.
· To carry out audit, policy and service development and research activities and/or programmes in relation to interventions for people with personality disorders within the community service line.
· To propose and implement policy and service development changes within the area served by the service.
