The Role
adi Automation is seeking an Automation Sales Application Engineer to join its team. This position involves developing cost-effective electrical and systems integration solutions in collaboration with the Engineering team, ensuring they meet customer requirements and comply with relevant standards and regulations.
The successful candidate will be responsible for accurately estimating project costs, preparing tenders in line with adi Automation’s commercial goals, and presenting proposals to clients with the aim of securing business.

Key Responsibilities
* Engage with customers to understand project requirements, evaluating technical documentation such as drawings and specifications to prepare accurate cost estimates.
* Conduct site surveys when necessary.
* Identify and communicate any technical, commercial, or competitive risks to the Business Development Manager and engineering team.
* Work cross-functionally to develop engineered solutions that meet customer needs, proposing value-engineered alternatives where possible to drive cost efficiencies.
* Source accurate quotations for high-value items and utilise internal tools and schedules to produce reliable costings.
* Maintain ongoing communication with clients regarding tender attractiveness and anticipated order timelines. Gather feedback on unsuccessful bids to inform future improvements.
* Manage seamless project handovers to engineering and production teams, ensuring all commercial and technical details are clearly communicated.
Candidate Profile
Ideal candidates will possess:
* A strong technical understanding of control panels and PLC/SCADA system integration.
* Familiarity with hazardous area requirements and relevant health and safety regulations.
* Knowledge of commercial principles, including terms, conditions, and gross margin considerations.
* A proven track record in project tendering and technical sales, with solid operational and supply chain awareness.
* A results-driven and innovative mindset within the automation engineering sector.
* Broad industry knowledge, particularly within manufacturing and automation.
Professionals with a background in PLC programming, control systems, or SCADA who are looking to transition into a commercial or applications engineering role are also encouraged to apply.
