Bringing together the skills and expertise of Octavius Regional Civil Engineering (ORCE) and Octavius Highways, we are building an exciting portfolio of work in the Eastern region. In particular two schemes, a bypass at Chelmsford and Link Road in Colchester. As a result we are looking to recruit a Planner or Planning Engineer to help us in the execution of this work and continue delivering safe, sustainable, and efficient transport solutions across the UK.
This is a hybrid role where you'll have autonomy to manage your own time visiting these sites on a regular basis and working from home to suit both you and keep up with demands of the programme of works.
You'll be working on…. (what your role and responsibility is)
* Develop, produce and update programmes for multiple projects across a range of disciplines.
* Work with the estimators and delivery team to produce programmes that are commercially attractive to the client.
* Help the team to identify and evaluate the risks within the project, not only with regards to planning, but the project as a whole.
* Ensure that legislative, Octavius' and customers' mandatory policies and procedures are delivered appropriately within the governance framework.
* Develop relationships with other teams to ensure that we share resources, innovation, and process to deliver efficiently as one.
* Identify better and/or more efficient ways of achieving the current outcomes.
* Put safety, health and wellbeing at the heart of decision making.
* Put the Environment and Sustainability at the heart of decision making.
* Actively participate in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) events.

About you…. (what you are skilled at)
* Engineering knowledge with relevant experience in suitable disciplines (such as Structures, Buildings, Geotechnical, earthworks, highways)
* An excellent knowledge developed over time in applying planning software to create clear, comprehensible and realistic programmes.
* The ability to plan from first principles.
* Working knowledge of planning software (such as MS-Project, Asta Powerproject or P6 Primavera).
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
* Good level of NEC3 knowledge, and knowledge of how it should be applied to the contract programme.
* Understanding of construction design.

* A related degree, diploma, or vocational qualification, or equivalent demonstrable experience in Civil Engineering.
* Completion of courses relevant to a career in planning.
* Previous experience with a tier one contracting group operating in civil engineering, highways or earthworks.
