As a Colleague Communications and Engagement Manager you'll be responsible for designing communication strategies that engage our colleagues and for delivering communications to support change and efficiency programmes. You'll be planning and designing communication deliverables using different media, including written word, video content, digital and physical creative materials and channels, and events.
This role sits within the Communications and Engagement team in the Chief Operating Office (COO) - a small, focused and fast-paced team, delivering communications across a varied audience of almost 8,000 colleagues in the COO. Our purpose is to connect our colleagues with the purpose and strategy at Nationwide, inspiring and equipping them to be their best, while demonstrating our customer first behaviours in their work.
We're looking for an experienced employee communication specialist, who can simply and powerfully connect our COO colleagues across the function to the Nationwide purpose. You'll be a self-motivated individual with a track record of both high-profile communications campaign delivery, and excellent planning and prioritisation skills. You'll have good experience of supporting change and efficiency programmes with compelling and compassionate communications. You'll bring creativity to a technical content area, bringing our strategic programmes to life so that our whole function understands and feels connected to the vital work the COO does for Nationwide colleagues and customers.
You'll understand the importance of pushing ourselves to be better, by measuring everything we do. You'll be delivery focused and get things done, while building exceptional team and stakeholder relationships. You'll also like to have fun at work - bringing energy and enthusiasm to our team.
For this job you'll spend at least two days per week, or if part time you'll spend 40% of your working time, based at either our Swindon, Nationwide House or London, Threadneedle Street offices. If based at our London office there is a requirement to attend our Swindon office twice a month. If your application is successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this works. You can also find out more about our approach to hybrid working here .
We have two FTC vacancies available. We can be open to consider part-time (minimum of 24 hours) or job share options.
If we receive a high volume of relevant applications, we may close the advert earlier than the advertised date, so please apply as soon as you can.
What you'll be doing
As part of a specialist communications team, you will plan, manage and deliver a wide range of employee communications (e.g. campaigns, internal events, webcasts, social channels and video content), delivered for the COO function.
You'll shape strategy and delivery plans by using, understanding and interpreting insight about the preferences and interests of the target audience(s), what has worked well and the best communication channel(s) to reach them.
You'll bring our strategic programmes, people initiatives and day-to-day delivery to life, using compelling story-telling and increasing connection to, and understanding of, why the COO is such a vital part of the business.
You'll support change and operational excellence programmes with structured, colleague focused communications, tailored to audience needs.
You'll do all this in line with our Nationwide brand and tone of voice, creating colleague advocates across the function.

What makes us different
Nationwide is the world's largest building society. With over 15 million customers, we have a relationship with almost a quarter of the UK's population. We've got the scale to compete with the big banks, but we're not a bank.
As a building society, we're owned by our members - that's our customers who have their current account, mortgage or savings with us. It means we can do things differently to deliver our Purpose - Banking - but fairer, more rewarding, and for the good of society.
When you work at Nationwide, you can experience that difference for yourself. You'll be part of a high-performing, purpose-driven organisation that offers rewarding career experiences and a highly competitive range of benefits to match. You'll also be joining us at an important time as we seek to reach more and more people in the UK. We want everyone in the UK to know that they don't have to bank with a bank. They can choose a modern mutual instead.
