We have a new opportunity to develop a Head of Service role within Rehabilitation and Therapies. This will involve working alongside the existing Head of Service, and managing a portfolio of services within the adult’s division.
Services are primarily focussed on community rehabilitation and enablement. You should have an interest in intermediate care and understand discharge to assess, urgent care and home first principles.
You will support the Assistant Director to deliver high standards of care. You will take responsibility for the provision of specific services, working closely with external stakeholders, across health and social care, to provide seamless pathways of care for patients.
Main duties of the job
As Head of Service, you will work collaboratively as part of the dynamic strategic leadership team and be accountable for clinical leadership within the services. This is a senior management role holding both operational and strategic responsibilities as well as a substantial budget which requires robust financial control across the range of services.
You will empower staff to be instrumental in delivering high service performance, utilising a transformative and proactive approach to ensure the provision of high-quality care to service users, deputising for the Assistant Director as required.
You will be responsible for ensuring that all services meet the required local and national targets and standards in relation to quality, performance governance, workforce planning and finance.

Person specification
QUALIFICATIONS
* Current Registration with a relevant professional body. Degree level qualification or equivalent experience. Evidence of recognised professional development, including clinical, management and leadership. Evidence of Management Qualification or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE
* 3 years experience at Senior Management level within the NHS. Evidence of applying national policy locally and involvement in effective strategic planning and development. Management of budgets. Successfully leading and motivating staff. Effectively working with other health care professionals. Leading and implementing change management. Evidence of identifying risks and developing and maintaining locality risk register. Political awareness including demonstrating experience. Expertise, knowledge and experience of strategic management within a healthcare organisation. Extensive clinical governance, patient safety and quality improvement experience and expertise. Clear understanding of health services infrastructure and its relationship to partner organisations. Experience of effective partnership working across the health and social care platform.
* Experience of remodelling and restructuring services within the NHS.
KNOWLEDGE
* Understanding of clinical governance and controls assurance. Knowledge of clinical leadership frameworks. Broad knowledge of the complex key local, regional and national policy context and strategies relating to patient safety, quality improvement and clinical governance. Knowledge of the principles of citizen engagement in clinical governance and improving the quality of clinical services. Knowledge and understanding of the care quality commission regulatory and inspection framework and assurance processes. Knowledge of current drivers for quality and clinical governance. Knowledge of how to effectively lead and motivate people particularly in relation to change and improving the patient experience. Knowledge of current DH, NHSI/E, ICS, HCP and CCG reporting requirements relevant to the quality agenda. Detailed knowledge of the CQC role and process at all levels of the organisation.
