Job Opportunity: Incident Response Operative
We have fantastic opportunities for a permanent Incident Response Operative to join our Area 7 team in Newark. This role is based on-site at Newark - Newark Depot (NG24 2TQ).
Working with National Highways, Amey maintains over 700 kilometres of roads across the East Midlands, ensuring 4.5 million citizens experience better journeys every day.
We provide maintenance and response across a vast area of some of the UK's busiest motorways and strategic highways in the East Midlands and North of England, with up to 180,000 vehicles using certain sections daily.
Our team of over 200 Amey personnel deliver vital maintenance and respond to incidents to keep the public moving.
The standard working pattern is 4 days on, 4 days off, rotating between days and nights, averaging 42 hours per week.
Responsibilities:
* Responding to incidents, performing highway maintenance, including Find and Fix, lamp scouting, routine and cyclic maintenance, litter picking, etc.
* Winter maintenance operations
* Attending project and safety briefings
* Driving and operating vehicles and plant, conducting daily checks, and reporting defects
* Ensuring safety for yourself and others, complying with health and safety legislation, and following safety procedures
* Performing vehicle checks and recording defects
* Keeping records and completing necessary paperwork
* Managing pedestrian and traffic control measures
* Liaising with colleagues, subcontractors, emergency services, police, the public, and clients
* Covering callout/standby duties and managing absences such as annual leave
Candidate Requirements:
* Full driving license with Class C HGV and Drivers CPC
* Knowledge of permit to dig procedures, including Cat & Genny
* Experience working outdoors in challenging weather conditions
* Traffic Management skills to Chapter 8 standards
* Experience with backfilling and reinstatement (desirable)
