Sub Agent (Contract) - UK Civil Business Unit
Role
We are recruiting for a Freelance SubAgent to join our £100m+ civil engineering scheme at York Central. The scheme is comprised of the design and construction of bridges, highways, retaining walls, new sections of railway, utilities network, drainage works, and temporary car parks. Primary role is provision of support to the Agent/Project Manager in the management of the design and/or construction of the works, including the implementation of Sisk quality procedures and management of health, safety, and environmental matters, all to meet programme, specification, and budget targets.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for a key member of the project management team in the delivery of Health, Safety, and Environmental presentations. Examples include project inductions, toolbox talks, and team briefings. Provides input on the content of presentations. Manage, supervise, and mentor graduate, site, and section engineers to ensure high levels of engineering control and project records. Complete health and safety inspections and individual daily diary, as well as implementation of Sisk quality control process including the preparation and/or review of Inspection & Test Plans. Can readily display advanced knowledge of key packages such as concrete, drainage, steelwork, and brickwork. Preparation and/or review of method statements and risk assessments.
You will have a good understanding of the project specifications, in particular tolerances for vertical and horizontal structural elements.
You will control the components of the SISK Non-Conformance procedure. Is comfortable in creating and closing out Non-Conformances. Understands the cost of defects and remedial works. Works actively to close out NCR's in a timely manner. You will also be competent in the issuing of "Permits to break ground".
You will identify where information is missing and has an excellent working knowledge of the project RFI process. Know how to find company information from the internal SISK website and can also find external information (where required) using IHS online. Prepare and monitor 4-weekly construction programmes or, where appropriate, provide information to the project planner to allow programmes to be updated.
Experience & Skills
1. Fully competent in understanding the dangers of risk controls for underground services.
2. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
3. Good working knowledge of current H&S legislation, Microsoft Office, and CAD.
4. Significant experience in the design management process.
5. Experienced in the management of temporary works, lifting operations, and quality management procedures.
6. Has previously managed teams of engineers of various levels.
Qualifications & Training
1. SMSTS Training.
2. First Aid.
3. Service avoidance course.
4. Temporary Works Co-ordinator training.
5. A61 CPCS Lifting Operations Appointed Persons course.
6. Is working towards professional status, ICE, CIOB, etc.
