The post holder will be a member of the Medical Specialities Directorate in STSFT and will be part of the Consultant team that will deliver clinical and laboratory Haematology services across Sunderland, South Tyneside and Gateshead. In conjunction with the other Haematologists, the post holder will contribute to the overall organisation and planning of the service. They will be responsible for providing an out-patient service, including the monitoring of chemotherapy. As part of their on-call commitments, the post holder will be responsible for Haematology in-patients at SRH, providing Haematology advice to GPs south of Tyne & Wear and hospital specialities on all 3 sites and will undertake blood film reporting for all 3 sites. The post holder is expected to possess Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (UK) and Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists (UK) or equivalent qualifications. The post holder is expected to be on the GMC Full Specialist Register with a License to Practice (or be eligible for registration within 6 months of interview). If UK-trained, the post holder must be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or be within 6 months of award of CCT by the date of interview. The post holder will be expected to contribute to the development of clinical and laboratory Haematology services across all 3 sites and to attend appropriate meetings depending on sub-specialist interests, in order to further the development of the service.
