We have an exciting opportunity to join a friendly, motivated and supportive team of Genetic Counsellors in the East Anglian Clinical Genetics Service. The post will include a mixed caseload. We are based at Addenbrooke's Hospital on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, which enables close collaboration with other specialties and plenty of CPD/teaching opportunities. We deliver genetics clinics in-person and virtually from Addenbrooke's Hospital, as well as from a number of hospitals across Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk. We currently operate a hybrid working policy, with a minimum of 50% of working hours spent in a formal work setting (eg office or in-person clinic). This post is for a fixed term 1.0 WTE Band 7 Genetic Counsellor to cover maternity leave. We welcome applications from experienced or newly registered Genetic Counsellors, or Genetic Counsellors due to register in the near future. A successful candidate who is eligible for registration but not yet registered at the time of commencement of the post would be appointed under Annex 21 terms. Responsibilities
* To provide a high quality genetic counselling service at regional specialist level and support families with a genetic disorder.
* To comprehend and communicate the medical and scientific facts including the diagnosis, probable course of the disorder and the risk of recurrence in specified relatives.
* To support patients and families in their decision making.
* To participate in education of other healthcare professionals.
* To work autonomously and as part of a team.
