Job Description
About BFFC: Brighter Futures for Children is a not-for-profit company, owned by, but independent of, Reading Borough Council. We work closely with partners in the local community and key organisations to deliver children’s social care, early help & prevention, and education services.
The Team/Role
This is a key role in the Elevate team (post 16 Participation and Engagement). You will work as part of the Elevate Careers Team, providing services for young people aged 16-18 (up to 25 years for those with LDD/Care Leavers) in target groups.
Role Responsibilities:
1. Work as part of the Elevate Careers Team, providing services for young people aged 16-18 (up to 25 years for those with LDD/Care Leavers and those claiming benefits) in target groups e.g., young people who are NEET, and at risk of becoming NEET.
2. Support a caseload of young people to achieve positive education, training, and employment outcomes.
3. Initiate, develop and deliver high-quality careers information, advice and guidance sessions for young people, within the trauma-informed practice ethos.
4. Collaborate with young people and families to equip them to develop their own career management tools.
5. Promote Elevate service internally and externally to young people, families, employers, and voluntary sector organisations.
6. Deliver IAG in community settings, schools, and colleges.
7. Undertake operational duties as directed by the Team Manager.
8. Support the manager and Team with delivering statutory duties as part of post 16 NEET strategy.
9. Use the client data system to record information accurately.
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
1. Significant experience of working with young people/young adults in either a paid or voluntary capacity.
2. Experience with young people aged 13-25 years, particularly vulnerable groups.
3. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively.
4. Qualifications in careers guidance and development at level 6.
5. Level 4 or level 3 job coaching in supported employment qualifications.
