Serco Marine Services operates and manages around 120 vessels from 7 sites around the UK, providing maritime services for our Customers in the Defence and Nuclear sectors. As owners and operators of specialist vessels, from harbour work boats to ocean going support vessels, we provide world class integrated marine services. We are currently recruiting for a Deck Rating to join our team at Devonport Marine on a Fixed Term Contract. The purpose of this role is to act as the main labour force aboard the vessel. Reporting to the Vessel Master, you will carry out a range of duties and tasks, assisting in the safe operation of the vessel or the handling of its cargo.
Main responsibilities of the role include:
- Berthing/Slipping of the Vessel.
- Ship Husbandry Tasks.
- Mooring up of the Vessel when going to anchor.
- Ship Operational Tasks.
- Cleaning Tasks as directed by the Master.
- Emergency equipment and procedures and location and use of fire fighting equipment.
- Drive deck machinery including cranes.
- Assist in repair and maintenance of ship’s equipment.
- Crane operations
- Ensure measures to prevent pollution of the environment are exercised
- Rope handling
- General maintenance and ships husbandry.
- Other deck related tasking’s through the port as reasonably appropriate to qualification and experience
What you’ll need to do the role:
- EDH or AB’s Ticket
- ENG 1 Medical
- STCW – PSSR, PST, PSCRB & Fire Fighting
- Food Hygiene Cert
- Health & Safety awareness
- Manual Handling
Other specifications:
- Good communication skills
- Health, Safety and Environmental awareness
- Must be able to obtain Home Office Security Clearance
