Job Details: Group Payroll & Benefits Manager
Location: Aztec West, Bristol (Hybrid, 3 days in office)

The SmartStream Group is a global financial software company made up of more than 25 entities which operate in 18 countries across the world. Working within the Group’s Finance Operations team, the primary purpose of this role is to manage and deliver the international Payroll and Benefits operations for the 1,000 plus employees that work for the organisation.
The Group has recently completed a comprehensive programme which has involved migrating all of the individual country payrolls across to one common provider, namely ADP. As part of the next phase of this partnership, the successful candidate will now have the opportunity to further develop this relationship and work with ADP to generate the process efficiencies that should exist following the consolidation of our international payroll supplier base.
In addition to the key tasks outlined below, the primary purpose of the Group Payroll & Benefits Manager will be to take ownership for all payroll and benefits requirements from the relevant countries and to develop and maintain a detailed knowledge of the associated payroll/benefits related processes within each country (e.g. tax payments, statutory requirements, pensions, benefits renewals etc.).
Job Responsibilities
1. Ensure each payroll (18 in total across 15 countries) is processed accurately and on time.
2. Distribute approved monthly and annual variable pay details to respective payrolls.
3. Lead, manage, coach and develop 1 direct report (Global Payroll & Benefits Executive).
4. Manage and support the wider global Payroll team (APAC).
5. Manage the relationship and associated contracts with the various international payroll providers.
6. Update and maintain the various Global Benefits portals.
7. Complete monthly data cleansing to comply with GDPR and other local compliances and legislation.
8. Prepare, reconcile, and submit monthly and annual pension contributions for various pension schemes.
9. Manage various global payroll and benefit projects including supplier migrations.
10. Resolve all payroll discrepancies that may arise during the processing cycle.
11. Provide advice and information to all employees relating to payroll, benefits, and pension queries.
12. Support HR with the annual benefits and brokers reviews.
13. Communicate directly with Finance, HR, the Executive team, and our network of international payroll providers to ensure that deadlines are met.
14. Manage and submit monthly and annual payroll calendars to internal and external stakeholders.
15. Take ownership of annual tasks such as P11D’s, P60’s, T4’s, W2’s, 1095 C, processing of salary reviews and bonus payments etc.
16. Supply accurate management information to the Executive team, external auditors and any other stakeholders in a timely and efficient manner.
17. Monitor the payroll mailbox and respond to queries, escalating when required.
18. Develop and maintain internal working relationships to a high standard.
19. Assume responsibility for reviewing/approving invoices from relevant suppliers.
20. Any other duties as required.

Qualifications
1. Good standard of formal education (A-level preferred).
2. CIPP or equivalent qualification desirable.
Experience
1. Working knowledge of current global payroll legislation (UK, US, Europe & APAC).
2. Working knowledge of the following payroll/benefits systems operated by Smartstream: ADP, Thomsons/Darwin portal, Sage People.
3. Accomplished Microsoft user (Excel, Powerpoint, Word) with sufficient skills to manipulate large data sets (including vlookup function, pivot tables etc.).
4. Good written and spoken English; any other European language is an advantage.
5. Experience of SME working and culture (small team flexibility and cross-capability).
