WORKING HOURS: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, including 1 evening delivery
LOCATION: Hybrid working with both site-based and remote work covering the Kent Region
Please note: There is a requirement for the FTC post ending March 2026 to work in HMP Stanford Hill in North Kent, 1 day per week
JOB OVERVIEW
We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Cognitive Behaviour Practitioner / Behavioural Change Intervention Specialist with experience of delivering cognitive / dialectical behavioural therapy (CBT & DBT) and working both face to face and remotely with perpetrators of domestic abuse and/or stalking.
As the Cognitive Behaviour Practitioner / Behavioural Change Intervention Specialist you will assess, coordinate and deliver interventions to individuals identified as demonstrating domestic abuse and/or stalking and related behaviour on a 1:1 and/or group basis.
Working as the Cognitive Behaviour Practitioner / Behavioural Change Intervention Specialist your role will require travel around the county in a range of settings including Police Stations, Probation offices, Prisons and company premises.
You will work both face to face and remotely, via teams, with participants (both adults and young people, aged 14 and over) to deliver a specialist intervention using models of behaviour change (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy) to address and change domestic abuse related behaviours and compulsive and obsessive thinking and behaviours.
DUTIES
Your duties as a Cognitive Behaviour Practitioner / Behavioural Change Intervention Specialist include:
Maintain and complete accurate and timely records according to contract requirements, including case files
Work in partnership with other agencies and services to develop and promote a multi-agency approach to the risk assessment, management and rehabilitation of all cases
Participate in the supervision and appraisal process with your Line Manager
Participate in clinical supervision as directed
Contribute to reports, reviews and evaluations required of the contract
Be responsible for the assessment and induction of people accessing the service and development of engagement plans
Work one evening per week with additional evenings and weekends, if required
Maintain accurate and timely records of all attendance, engagement and behavioural issues in the case management system
Maintain up to date risk information, contributing to MASH/MAPPA/Stalking Management Meetings when required and in liaison with other colleagues and agencies
Carry out administrative procedures appropriately
Work closely with volunteers, sessional staff and the Volunteer Co-ordinator to ensure productive, collaborative working relationships are maintained
Work alongside the Forensic Psychologist to effectively assess and manage the risk presented by individuals referred to the service
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
Essential
Experience of delivering cognitive behavioural therapy
Experience of dealing with a wide range of people
Experience of forming constructive working relationships
Experience of working towards agreed outcomes including collaborative working with others (multi-agency approach)
Experience of delivering group work
Experience of working with domestic abuse perpetrators/challenging individuals
Experience of managing a caseload
Experience of supporting risk management
5 GCSEs at Grade C or above (or equivalent), including English
Excellent interpersonal skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to deliver an intensive one to one therapeutic intervention both face to face and remotely using a video conferencing platform
Ability to manage disruptive, manipulative and aggressive behaviour
IT literate
Desirable
Probation Officer qualified OR Diploma/foundation degree in Counselling OR Psychology degree OR previous experience of delivering cognitive behavioural interventions
Knowledge and experience of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy
Experience of working with a range of social factors contributing to risk within domestic abuse
Experience of contributing to both MASH & MAPPA
Experience of providing therapeutic interventions
Experience of dealing with aggressive and challenging behaviour
