Children's Speech and Language Therapist
We are inviting applications from both current band 5 therapists and those who are due to complete their Undergraduate Degree this summer or Masters Degree later in the year to join us in the Children's Speech and Language Therapy Team. We are in the second phase of our service redesign where our key success factors have been determined by the staff, and key performance indicators and the model of service delivery by the staff, partners, and parents of children with SLCN and EDS working together.
The successful applicants will join an enthusiastic and friendly team of Children's Therapists, Assistants, and Administrators with systems in place for NQP and Preceptorship support.

A process for career progression from Band 5 to Band 6 will be offered through the RCSLT competency framework.

Main duties of the job
* To provide, with appropriate support, as an autonomous practitioner in Speech and Language Therapy, assessment, diagnosis, and evidence-based treatment for service users and to liaise with and refer on to other health, education, and social care providers as appropriate.
* To work as a member of the community service, contribute to its development, and provide multidisciplinary functions (within the post holder's sphere of competence) to service users in any setting required by the service.
* To develop the post holder's own professional practice by keeping abreast of clinical developments and responding to available evidence.
* To provide face-to-face/remote coaching, training, information, and advice to parents and other practitioners.

Person Specification
Training and Qualifications
* Holds recognised Speech and Language Therapy Degree or equivalent.
* Holds Health Professions Council license to practice as a Speech and Language Therapist.
* Registered member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.
Experience
* Experience at under or post-graduate level of using a range of tests and assessment techniques.
* Experience at under or post-graduate level of using a range of intervention approaches across different settings.
* Experience of data gathering methodology and data analysis.
* Experience at an under or post-graduate level in working with parents and other professionals.
Knowledge and Skills
* Demonstrate knowledge of relevant speech, language, and communication assessments, interventions, and techniques, and how to evaluate their relevance and effectiveness.
* Demonstrate an awareness of recent developments in practice and research including National guidance.
* Understanding of clinical governance and risk management and their implications for the service.
* Effective written and verbal communication skills for a wide audience of children and adults.
* Excellent analytical and reflective skills.
* Highly developed auditory and perceptual skills.
* Excellent organisation, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
* Show competency in the use of relevant IT tools including those appropriate for clinical use, for example, In Print 3.
* An awareness of current platforms used to provide remote assessment, training, and interventions.

* Able to meet the travel requirements of the job.
