Are you a passionate Commercial Pipe Welder, looking for an exciting new role?
We’re looking for 5 Commercial Pipe Welders to work with one of our well-established and very successful clients, working as part of their Engineering team.
The Commercial Pipe Welder will take responsibility for a variety of tasks including site management, welding and installation of commercial pipework, and ensuring all work complies with health and safety regulations. This role involves working in schools and commercial buildings, often requiring flexibility with working hours to meet operational needs.
Principle responsibilities
1. Maintain a daily site log, conduct site inductions, and update relevant paperwork in the site folder
2. Weld and install commercial boiler room pipework, including mild steel welded and screwed pipework
3. Fit copper and stainless-steel press-fit pipe and fittings ranging from 15mm to 108mm
4. Install mild steel screwed pipework and fittings from 20mm to 150mm
5. Interpret and follow pipework schematic drawings for installation purposes
6. Complete small to medium-sized boiler room and heating/hot water installations without pipework drawings
7. Install various radiator styles and fan convectors, including low surface temperature types
8. Work in schools, understanding associated risks and adhering to safety protocols
9. Drain and refill heating systems to replace leaking pipework and isolation valves.
10. Ensure compliance with the ‘Health and Safety at Work Act’ and other relevant regulations
11. Overcome day-to-day on-site issues such as pipework routes and material shortages
12. Pre-fabricate sections of pipework and carry out positional welds when required
13. Ensure sufficient materials are available on-site to prevent work delays
Person specification
14. Good practical and problem-solving skills
15. Clear understanding of commercial heating installations and hot/cold water services
16. Ability to work as a lead engineer
17. Experience in commercial buildings and educational establishments
18. Commercial gas ACS qualifications (desirable but not essential)
19. Current SSSTS or SMSTS qualification
20. Class two in MMA welding with up-to-date certification
21. Self-motivated and asbestos awareness certified
22. Flexible approach to working hours, including evenings and weekends
23. Knowledge of the risk assessment process
24. Pride in work quality and being a team player
Essential qualifications/skills
25. Relevant City and Guilds Level 2 or 3 Qualification
26. Full UK Driving Licence
This is a full-time permanent Commercial Pipe Welder position, working Monday to Friday with potential overtime, offering a competitive salary plus annual company benefits to include 25 days holiday plus 8 bank holidays, pension scheme, and free car parking.
